Ive had two G35/G37s. Super reliable and comfortable and nice looking. I get a car to go first and foremost and refer limited maintenance and no leaving me stranded. 12 Infinitis over the years and none of them failed me. Turn the key and they are ready to go... daily lol

The exact same thing could be said of a Corvette C5.
G37 since I need some degree of practicality in a daily driver. A five year old G37 with <40k can be had for less than $20,000 which is a decent amount of car for the money. Kind of like Brian said. Daily drive for most people means sitting in traffic on a freeway. If your commute to work is a scenic mountain road with no traffic, DDing a sports car would be more of a fun option. I've DDed an S2000. It wasn't fun.

Hes a big dude 6-1 about 230. I told him Miata but I guess he needs two of them. It's tough rolling with only one skate. He's like me. In the morning has little traffic. Evenings it's tougher but he wants it for weekends too. The Raptor is a go to get something big, or family truckster long trip with the wife and kids
Yeah, I'm 6'4" and 220~230, the miata, s2000, bmw z3 type cars are roller-skates not suatable for anyone of height. I remember my first ride in a Z3, buddy bought it and I met him out where I'd ridden my motorcycle... I needed the helmet to keep bugs out of my eyes as they were above the level of the windscreen. :/
I still stand by the Golf GTI. I've been driving a Jetta for 14 years now (same one), have driven several other Golfs, GTIs, GLIs, and Passats, all have ample room for taller folk. Some people seem to have issues with the cars, but all the claims of unreliability just haven't held true for the one I own or any of the many others I've had my hands in (enthusiast mechanic for VWs).

I don't think he wants a hatchback and he's not a front wheel drive guy. I've seen a few GTIs and they look good. I'd drive one just to get the mpg
We all have our respective biases. Mine is against FWD. By my reckoning, no FWD can be properly "fun", even if it's professionally set up for SCCA competition. But that's just my bias.
As to the C5 vs. C6 question, I'd lean towards the C6, if price/mileage/condition were suitable. I regard the C6, and especially the Z06 C6, as the pinnacle of the American sporting car.
Being a shorter person, I find Miatas to be an excellent choice. But the lack of power is disconcerting. In low-speed situations, such as going around cones in parking-lots, I find Miatas to be more satisfying, than a Corvette, BMW M3 or Porsche Cayman (having tried all of them). They're actually no hassle to drive in urban stop-and-go situations, and the sensation of sitting low, being surrounded by modern American-market metallic behemoths, is in a certain sense exhilarating. But that dearth of power....

He's not crazy loaded but he would like to stay around 30k or less. For a C6 he would go higher but he said he's waiting a bit for the prices to drop a bit so that's a few years from now.
Of those cars, I'd easily choose the C5 vette.... simply a better longer lasting car and can scoot quicker than the others too.
But, I agree with whoever said spend a few extra bucks and get a used C6 instead.... it's better and you will have fun, even in a base model.
Base Model C5's had 345-350 HP But, equally as good as a used C6, is a C5 Z06, which has 385-405 HP and is a fun good looking car.
C6's base models have 400-430 HP depending on the year (LS2 vs LS3)
I own a C6 Z06 and I'm 6.4 - 260 lbs and I'm very comfortable in it and I've taken it on long haul cross country trips before.
Good luck with whatever you choose.
