Mod cut. It's a luxury item for some and it's fine if they want to pay for it - it's an annoyance for me and I don't. You may not know much about what goes into vehicle engineering and pricing, but I do. These things aren't free. Manufacturers will not give them away for free as it will diminish their margins. And I sure as hell am not paying for something I consider to be a negative.

Don't worry, it will apply mainly to vehicles with at least 4 points of ingress/egress - sedans, X-overs, SUVs, and crew-cab pickups. Not things like Miatas which can be ordered with a rag.
Mass-producing Camrys, Fusions, Santa Fes and Pacificas with a typical(non pano) sunroof will actually reduce the cost down to an additional $200-300 per vehicle, vs the customer ordering it as a option or having one put in aftermarket. That's economic reality.
No, not really. You've yet to prove, beyond your own statements of preference, that sun/moonroofs are "the future", as you call it. Your own opinion and wishes aren't fact.

It won't happen, so it's pointless to argue about what vehicles it will apply to.

It's a prediction, mine admittedly, based again on what I've observed driving around my state. Your area may differ. But a realistic one, not unlike saying, in 1977, that air conditioning will be standard on most cars by the mid-eighties.
It is not. If for no other reason than the fact that "standard" implies "all 50 states" and in the very sentence above you concede other states' situations may be different.
Can't buy a BMW, Mercedes, Infiniti or Lexus without one, and those who buy any other make or model either option a glass top or select a package including one.
Same thing happened to electric windows and A/C years ago. More economical to just build it that way in the first place!
