I Googled the house number and the name of the city, and right away I found a real estate listing for the house. Fortunately for her, the real estate information only listed the current owner of the house.
I did something similar. A friend posted on facebook a photo of a house she was considering. I did a search of the photo on Google image search and found the listing, including the address, city and state.

I've always thought only police officers running tags can get an address from a plate. I do wonder how an ordinary, normal person could even do that.

Rest assured, if anyone knows how, they are saving the method for someone they hate. Not to come and visit their house ? But likely for "general harassment purposes." (Junk mail, weird phone calls likely from Sheraton hotels, when you've never been to one.. etc. Just don't pick up the phone if you don't recognize the number. Simple.)

The internet is a double edge sword. It can help as it could harm.

On a related note, I was out playing Pokemon Go this weekend when I ended up in a not so good part of town. I parked my car in a lot (in a plaza where nothing seemed to be open at the time) and got out to get some Pokemon when this lady suddenly showed up and I did everything to ignore her (since I wasn't in the mood to make conversation.) I gave her short but honest answers to her questions like "why are you here?" and "why are you ignoring me?" From what I can deduce, she seemed to have come in the direction from this massage parlor like half a block away (probably one of those "happy ending" type places judging from the grittiness of the exterior and the blackened windows.)

At the very end, she said something like "don't lie, you look down on people like us" and proceeded to take a few photos of the rear of my car including the license plate shortly before I jetted out of there.

Is there anything to be worried here?

Because they usually do it in a way the detracts from the photo. It's rarely ever done well.

My belief, they have a car for sale, but don't want people to come by their house and bother them about lowering the price or such. They only want to deal with people that are going to actually make an honest offer for their car. Yes very odd, Google maps blurs license plate numbers when they film properties for street view maps, yet, they give you the street address of the home that the car is parked at???
Only reason I would do it, is, as stated, have a car for sale and don't want someone to come by my house/residence prior to me wanting them to. Other than that, it doesn't really protect anything.
Just my 2Cent Opinion.
