I've only purchased new cars a few times. At the time I purchased one of the I had seen the dealer were either gluing or mechanical (make hole to attach) attachment of a logo that was some type of molded plastic, just another place to catch dirt and start rust..... I warned them I did not want that on contract and before we picked it up. I told them if they want there name on my car they can give me a license plate holder with their name.

Not the same at all. Your jeans say Levi because it was made by Levi. Would you wear Levi jeans with a big Walmart logo on them? After all, Walmart sold them to you.
I recall when I reviewed the line items on my car purchase form,I was being charged $450,for the decals and license plate. I couldn't understand it either. And they gave the 'guilt ' response of : are you ashamed of buying your car from us? . I said yup about as ashamed as you should be for having me pay for your marketing. Never again will I let it slide. The other line item that I will boggle over is...Because I contacted my sales rep by email to ask questions they considered it an 'internet service fee'. Yup $250 for that fee. Hate to see if I called : a cell call fee?
The sticker adhered to the car is not common on the West Coast, but it still pretty common everywhere else. On the West Coast, most dealerships just provide front and rear plate frames. Here in Arizona, about half of car dealers slap a badge on new cars. In my case it was honestly just as simple as peeling the badge off with my fingers. No paint came off, the shape of the badge wasn't "tattooed" on the car, and there was no residue left behind.
Just demand the dealer does it for you. If they want you as a customer, they would do it without question. What seller would jeopardize a large deal because of a sticker? Ridiculous. If the dealership is unrelenting, go somewhere else.
I have always found it odd they can do that without asking.
Well it's annoying, but at the time they do it they own the car, right?
