I have a 99 Tacoma SR5 with 207,000 miles,4 cyl,runs perfect, a little rough at idle.
I have read throttle plate might need cleaning.Has anyone used Toyota aerosol spray cleaner or is it a waste of time and money?

Reason: add info
I used to have a 95' Lexus LS400 with the 4.0 V8. Had to clean the throttle valve on that one too (butterfly valve) and it indeed made a very nice difference in the performance and smoothness of the car. But, I tried the spray stuff (Seafoam) and whatnot, and after looking at the results myself, decided that approach wasn't strong enough to get that gunk off of there. What worked was a little dremel tool with a nylon brush attachment, popped the air intake hose off the throttle body, and basically opened the butterfly valve with my fingers and ran the dremel brush along the edges (which were caked) and as much of the plate as I could get. Then I put some more cleaner in there and that seemed to do the trick.
Night & day difference for mine at 110k miles. Could hardly tell the engine was running at idle, and the throttle response picked up quite a bit as well.
Is the throttle plate dirty?
I know cleaning it helped on my '05 Ranger. It had quite a bit of funk on it. I used some CRC Throttle Body cleaner and it's nice and shiny. Runs a little smoother at idle too.
Whatever you use, be sure it's made for throttle bodies. Some t.b.s have a coating on them to help seal any small gaps between the throttle plate and body. Regular cleaner like brake cleaner strips that coating and can cause rough idle. Cleaners designed for t.b.s don't strip that. coating.
I have larger cans of each and basically give both the MAF and TB a squirt when I change the my filter every year.
