Had a '90 Accord drove to 225k miles with only issues with the air conditioning and a bit of oil leak around 200k. Had a '00 Civic that put 150k miles on and no issues.

American cars doesn't have to be reliable, because there are enough customers that will only buy American amd GM knows that, so there's no need to make a reliable product as long as they make it competitive enough and have plan obsolescence built in.
Japanese cars doesn't have a sizeable loyalty customer base to depend on, if their reliability takes a hit there won't be many customers left. It's imperative for Japanese auto to be reliable enough and have more features and have price advantage against US auto.
Even with the US government constantly handing out ridiculous faulty claims and major fines against Honda and Toyota while shielding GM and Ford from heavy fines the Japanese car makers still doing fine. This is why Toyota and Honda will always make superior products because they don't have protected status here.
There's over 100 deaths associated to GM's ignition switch failure and no billion $$ fine. While Toyota was fined $1.2 billion for gas pedals mess. VW fined $16.4 billion for dieselgate.
Usually if one bought an American car, you’re almost guaranteed to have a good reliable long lasting vehicle if it’s a truck or a big RWD car like a Grand Marquise or a Chevy Caprice.
I still wouldn’t trust a really small American car such as a Sonic or a Focus for long term use. I just feel GM and Ford doesn’t put the effort, nor the quality into its small cars vs Toyota or Honda since traditionally they’ve been building small cars for years so naturally they have the quality down.
As far as midsize cars go, they are about even today American/Japanese. I see tons of Ford Fusions on the road, tons of Chrysler 300’s, tons of Malibu’s where I live. Of course foreign cars dominate the roads in CA, but I’ve seen a steady increase in American vehicles in the last 5 years as they have gotten much better in quality.
Anyone who’s worked in a shop where a wide variety of vehicles come in will say Toyota’s and Honda’s are the standouts if they’re being honest. Not that other makes and models sometimes come close, but rarely are they as consistent.
Mercedes and Challengers? Not in the same league for reliability.

Toyota’s are great. That’s a nice car you have.
The best car I owned was a Toyota Solara. I miss that car. The only major work I had to do besides tires, brakes and a battery was replace a bushing in a control arm. I traded because I was no longer driving it that much.
My whole take on Scotty and his screeching. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.
