Mustang GT 5.0.......cousin rented it, had about 200 miles on it (he drove it about 150 miles). I asked if he had gotten the rental insurance and then I asked for the keys.

My eyes were watery from all the burnt rubber I saw that day! He asked someone I was with if he should be worried, luckily they said, no.....you said you bought the insurance right?

He laughed when I returned and he saw the car was ok....

Cadillac XTS last month, terrible car. In our 30’s and had trouble figuring out the touchscreen stuff. The old people who buy these cars there’s no way they’d figure it out. Handling didn’t exist and I needed it, also weak engine. Was given this car not by my choice, but it did get us from point a to b.

Had a Camry 5 years ago and I was surprised that I didn’t hate it like I thought I would.
Mecan Turbo- fun but wanted my V8 turbo back after a week instead of V6 turbo.
17 Panamera- only 4 door car I’d get, was awesome to drive

Worst - anything by Hyundai / Kia. I find all of their vehicles to have lousy performance - steering and acceleration. For some reason I’ve always found Hyundai drivers to be horrible - not sure if it’s because half the time the cars are rentals or if the people that buy them just don’t care about driving. I also find I’m a worse driver when I wind up with a Hyundai rental because of the lacking performance and maneuverability.

Nothing stands out as my favorite- I like when I wind up with a car that has a few thousand miles or less which hasn’t seen much abuse yet and fully loaded with all of the bells and whistles (unless it’s a Hyundai/ Kia). I’d take a Chevy Cruze like that over a Maxima or SUV that is bare bones and has 30k miles with lots of abuse.

I really agree with the OP

The Hyundai Accent is a very nice little car, no problem hanging with freeway traffic and the transmission is excellent.
The Chevy Equinox was really bad, rough tranny with a sluggish engine feel.

My overall favorite rental car was probably a Mazda 2, surprising capable car for 1.5 motor. And as usual great handling by Mazda.

Best- Mercedes C class, which can often be had for a relatively reasonable rental price in Europe. Budget, I think it was, had it in the same group as a Ford Mondeo (aka a Fusion in North America)

Worst- Jeep Compass- handled horribly, gas hog, and we were stuck with it for close to three weeks because it was what was on hand at the rental place next door to the dealership where the Passat had been towed after it broke a pump. At least VW paid for the rental and not us.

Recently, I've driven some Ford F-150s, a Nissan Rogue, a Nissan Altima, some Ford Fiestas, a Jeep Renegade, and a Mazda of some sort. The pickup was my favorite thing to drive, while the Rogue was a bit painful due to the lack of shock absorbents. While small, I loved the pick up speed and control of the Fiesta.

I recently rented a KIA Soul. I had my choice of several cars but decided ti try the Soul. I was impressed and if I needed a run around town/commute car I would buy one. Personally I drive a 2107 Ford Explorer so you can see I do not like small cars but the KIA seemed a nice size.
