I had a 1987 Mazda RX 7 turbo. Liked the looks and that Wankel engine which sounded like a jet engine when it was wound up high rpm wise. Test drove one and was hooked the sales man said, we have one in back that just came off the truck no one has test driven it like this one... trust me you want it not this one lol
In ‘94 I test drove an ‘85 GSL-SE. bought it on the spot and drove it across the country. More people ruined them by shifting at 2000-3000 RPM. 6000 RPM+ was more like it.
I remember a magazine doing a comparo between the big 'S' Class Mercedes, I believe a 7 series BMW, and a then new Lexus LS400, from the side the Benz and Lexus were quite similar.
All three of those models were wonderful, with styling far superior to the current offerings.

I saw a 90s Jag XK8 on the road today and it still looked good. XJ12 too.
1980s BMW 5/6 series. Especially anything "M".
Many 1960s to early 70s coupes still look good, e.g. The Skylark/GS/GSX, Challenger/Cuda, Torino/Cyclone.
Porsche 928.
Saab 900.
Audi Quattro.
Most Japanese cars age poorly IMO, the original Acura Legend is an exception.
...Saw a 10-yr old E-class today and it was the size of a C. Or how about the 80s BMW 3-series? They too look tired. The 2002 used to look so muscular but it's a different story now. ...
I couldn’t disagree more! The E30 3-series has always been gorgeous, and is especially now, considering how BMWs have become bloated and porcine, fussy and overly-complex.

Precisely. Modern sedans have converged. American cars have far improved in quality. Asian cars have increased in size and engine-displacement. And German cars have become more cushy and anodyne, largely dispensing with their driver-focused orientation (all except for the marketing). All cars have become more bloated, cosseting driver and passengers. But they’re also more efficient and in most cases offer higher acceleration.

Late 60s and early 70s Japanese cars have mostly aged quite well.
