That's not a truck. Its in the same category as the Avalanche/Explorer Sport Trac and any other "truck" with a bed shorter than 6 feet. It's a sedan with no trunk lid.

I don’t know why they ever stopped making the El Camino. To me that was the perfect combination of car and truck.

Lots of hateful "discussion" in this thread. You'd think we were talking politics.

I drive a Prius. My former daily driver was an F250.

Everybody hates me; nobody loves me.

One of our doctor friends, a female, age 38, 5 ft tall drives an Escalade, says she feels safer in it and it's easier to see all around her.

Mommy mobiles were mini-vans in the 90s; now they've migrated to the giant SUVs: Escalade, Suburban, Tahoe, Pilot, Highlander and Expedition.

The perceived safety is a big issue. I get that.

Key word "perceived". I'd never drive an SUV, for a handful of reasons, but safety is definitely not one of them. They are so prone to flipping when involved in a crash, and a flipped car drastically increases the chances of its passengers being more seriously injured. I'll stick with cars, still get 5 star crash ratings and are pretty difficult to roll.

One thing that is so common here, are Deer Guards. Made of very heavy tube steel and other steel plates that are bolted to the frame underneath. They are put of Medium to Large SUVs and Pickups. In our part of the country, it is very common to have deer jump in front of your vehicle, and make it impossible to not hit them.

With a deer guard to protect the front of your vehicle, you kill the deer, but it does not destroy the front end of your vehicle. Simply run the vehicle through a car wash to get rid of the blood, and it is as if nothing ever happened. If they actually are hit by the front of your vehicle without a deer guard, it does a lot of damage to your ride.

https://www.autoanything.com/grille-...t-your-vehicle

It also protects them, when some small car runs into them.

In our part of the world, big rig trucks, really about all have them.

I remember as a teen age kid when I went to a conference at the college in Davis California from Humboldt County. On the way home, we had 3 deer jump in front of the car right off of the bank by the road, in a 75 mile stretch at night. The car we were in was an old 1930 model and back then the bumpers were strong enough when we killed the deer, we just pulled the deer out of the way, and continued going home. Three times we had to pull a deer to the side of the road.

Today, those small cars so many prefer have to be towed when they hit a deer. Recently one of my daughter in law's boss (a lady), hit a deer, and her car was totaled. Hit one with a SUV or Pickup with a deer guard, and just pull the deer out of the road and continue on until you can get the blood washed off of your vehicle.

Another reason that 75% plus of all vehicles in our parking lots are SUV and Pickup types.

You are so correct if a deer sees a small white compact sedan they might think it’s a rolling salt block lol lol.
