It's a 2003 Honda Civic. Thanks, where is the fuse?
It may only have 40 K on it , but the car is 15 years old. A lot happens in 15 years, even if a car just sits.
I would go to an independent auto AC repair place, instead of a dealer. If you had a newish car, maybe then, but not on an older model. The cost should be far less, at least for the diagnosis. Could be just a pressure switch, a fuse, etc etc.
If the AC-clutch is not cycling and the fuse is good, you may have low pressure on the high
and/or low pressure side, to where the pressure-sensing-sensors are keeping the clutch-relay from activating. These sensors will keep your compressor from burning-up due to low refrigerant levels.
My car's AC suddenly totally stopped working............I went to the dealership...........
Yeah, don't do that.
Take it to an independent shop.

No. For three hours, I would expect to pay 250$.
I'm guessing that although you waited 3 hours for your car, they repaired it in 15 minutes. We used to have to hide cars if the customer was waiting so that they wouldn't see how long we worked on it.
For example I could replace a window motor in a Lincoln in 15 minutes. But in order to charge the customer 3 hours we would hide the car.
That's why I am not a mechanic anymore.
Not threadjacking, just asking a question of a similar nature, need HELP.
My car's AC lowside-pressure runs at about 35psi at idle, starts blowing fairly cold air. When I step-up the RPMS, the dang pressure drops and the air goes warm, HUM. I have gradually filled the system, have put in about 20-ounces (it was very low)....full capacity is listed at 2.11-pounds. Does seem to now be holding pressure but I am kinda scratching my head......slipping-clutch would raise pressure, not a blend-door problem, pressure-sensing switch shutting-down the compressor would raise pressure.......I am kinda LOST, HELP!
I am thinking that I may need to top-off the system to near the very top of the normal range of pressure or there is an internal problem/blockage?????????
Why do people take old cars that have NO business being in a dealership, to a dealership?
OP, why? Why'd you go to the dealer? You dont have a valid reason at all to be going. You dont have a new car.....
Could have paid half as much had he went to an independent shop. Labor rates are cheaper AND they generally charge less for parts, no reason to pay dealer prices on new parts for a 15 year old car.
Dealerships are for SALES and WARRANTY work, MAYBE oil changes. Thats it.
