It's stupidity. Don't go trying to okay the behavior of stupidity. Tell them to be better parents.

GM has that built in to the Surburban, at least the one we rented last year did. Thing is though it had to be turned on, and I wonder if people actually would.

Like you’ve never done anything stupid. Like everybody else on this forum, it’s all everybody else’s fault and you’re the smartest person in the world. Stupidity is assuming you’re linfallible, and that is how accidents happen.

They're your children.

There's a higher barrier of expectations when it's your children involved.

A moron forgets their kid in the hot car.

They make a stupid mistake if they lock their keys in the car, not forget their kid.

That’s called complacency. You’re assuming because it never happened to you, you’re immune. That’s the rationale behind everyone that stupid things happen to.

I’m willing to admit that I’m completely capable of zoning out. I forget to stop by the store and get milk on the way home or whatever. I don’t pretend that it only happens to other people so I try and take proper precautions but there are few options for remembering a kid is in the car.
I would rather car makers take the sameness approach to this issue with the same concern they do with other safety issues like seatbelt reminders.
I don’t want somebody’s kid dying in a hot car even if they are stupid.

If you want one then it should be a special order only not on every vehicle why should us people who don’t have children or pets be forced to pay for something we will never use , this is if they come up with such a system.

It doesn’t cost anything. GM didn’t raise the price of anything when they added it.

No companies implemented because of lawsuits. If they made a system that would auto-vent, what system can detect an infant or pet inside? Why if objects in the car is mistaken as people? They would get a lot of complaints if cars auto-vent if just a suitcase was inside. Or if the system stopped working they get wrongful death suits.. Americans just likes to blame and take no fault and lawyers are leeches.

Nooooooooooo.

Still dangerous. Lowering a window one inch won't do much good. The inside of the car will still get hot. Over 120 degree F with an outside temperature of only 85 degrees F is very common.

Dogs. Yesterday here was in the 90s and the Boardwalk gets direct sunlight most of the day so the surface of it hits 140 or so, Yet there they are, the dog walkers.

Then on Friday nights with the Farmer's Market it's like a Pet Parade with 2000 people there and dogs looking bedraggled and confused, not to mention the heat off the street surface.
....that's one perspective...or market it as a safety feature because each life is...priceless?

You can punish dumb people but that does nothing to prevent their behavior...does shaming them bring back the baby? Does it really even make YOU feel any better?
