I think MOST drivers (my estimate is about 90%) think that "speed limit" means the MINIMUM speed you should be going on the interstate. For those of you reading this who don't know..its the MAXIMUM speed you should be driving.

Interstate drivers routinely drive 70 80 mph's where the speed limit causes for 55...and if your going 55, they actually zoom past you upset because your not going 80.

Do you think that most drivers know what SPEED LIMIT means?

A speed limit of 55 on the interstate is outdated

Do you think that most drivers know what SPEED LIMIT means?

Actually, I think, based on my observations around here, most drivers do know that, even if they fudge it a little. There are those (and they are very vocal here on C-D) who think that either it does mean the minimum speed you are allowed to drive or that ifit means the maximum it should not/does not apply to them (but that darned old keep right law absolutely should and does apply to everyone who might keep them from breaking the speed limit law). Typical entitlement, spiced with a bit of testosterone that doesn't realize that any woman with even a smidgen of experience recognizes compensation when she sees it. You can recognize it by claims that the drivers who don't speed are the dangerous ones, or that speed limits are only about revenue generation (that's a big red S branded on their forehead and it's NOT for Superman, quite the opposite), or that everyone else should get out of their way and there'd be no problem (not being able to recognize and acknowledge that if they themselves, and everyone else, obeyed the speed limit there'd be no problem). Those latter people don't WANT to know that the laws of traffic and physics disagree with their self-serving premise, and nothing on earth is going to convince them otherwise because, "But, I WANNA!"

It's lawful to drive between the minimum and the maximum speed limits. Just stay in the right lane if you're not speeding.

Just traveled cross country and back. 80 in posted 55 is what is normal. Even in front of LEO, no issues.
The problem comes in when somebody makes an error at 80. Then it's a big problem.

I do the speed limit and always stay in the right-hand lane. My badge has no effect on the CHP if I get pulled over. Plus, I have a CDL and in California, you're not eligible for traffic school. I have no desire to see my insurance rate go up.
