Dealership applied Simoniz to my 2019 Honda Ridgeline. How do I apply pinstriping.

Just like any other wax job you likely should strip it off with dawn dish soap first. Then re-wax when done.

Is waxing really necessary with today's clear coat? A good wash and dry is good enough. Unless you like fondling your car.

"Necessary", depends on your definition. Keeps it looking cleaner longer as it sheds water and dirt better. And 5+ years down the line there is a marked difference between waxed and unwaxed. But there's definitely diminishing returns. Once or twice a year with a long lasting synthetic is usually enough. Folks detailing their car every weekend are just doing it to maintain a show ready appearance and not getting that much more long term protection for tons more effort.

Clear coat is merely regular automotive paint with no pigment in it, and a UV stabilization component. But without wax, it'll still deteriorate like any other paint.

Are you self applying the pinstripes ? I would leave it to the professionals, and go with paint vs. stickers.
