do you get more for your car on a trade in, if you lease or buy?
Do you like a CRV or a Rav 4 and why?
Will have to let you know when we trade the RAV4 in. My wife leased the CRV before the RAV, so couldn't tell you in terms of trade ins on that one. Between the two, my wife likes the RAV4 a lot better than the CR-V. She got to test drive a new RAV4 a few weeks ago and that thing is pretty peppy. I don't think you can go wrong with either one of them, but the RAV4 seemed more "perky" to us. They're pretty much the same thing, honestly.
You get more for your money if you privately sell. You can do better selling it to a dealer outright vs doing a trade-in deal as well. But, depending on your state and value of trade, the trade-in tax credit can make the case for doing it as a straight trade-in.
09-12 RAV4 with the V6...great amount of power for little penalty in mpg vs the 4 cylinder.
New ones? I'm more compelled by the Subaru Forester or VW Tiguan in that segment.
We have had both and the RAV4 has been a much better vehicle in my opinion. Our ac exploded in our CRV and it was expensive. This has been a problem in CRVs for a very long time. The other thing about the RAV4, it turns on a dime, which is great for shopping and running errands. We had some problems with the CRV and when we bought the RAV4, we did not trade the CRV. We advertised it and it sold very quickly.
My friend just bought a 2014 CRV, but cancelled the extended warranty. After seeing the above article, it looks like they should have kept the extended warranty.

Yeah I believe that's the way to go as well however do read all the fine print in the actualis T of coverage
We had lots of Honda's so were partial to the CRV, but we could NOT get the thing to do engine breaking. Both our homes are on very steep roads and we needed to ride the brake on the CRV to keep the speed down. Both the CRV and Pilot had this issue.
Ended up with the RAV/4. It is has been a pretty good vehicle. Very happy with the purchase.
