Nice to know - but for most it's just figuring in a $600-$1200 or so repair at 120K, eh?

Others things, like a head gasket, can cost that and more..or you can be nickeled and dimed to death.

I was glad, tho, to see my passat has a chain because my mechanics has thought it had a belt and suggested replacement at 120K or before. Now I don't have to do that.

A lot of this stuff depends on how long one is going to keep a car - and also how you budget for it. Putting aside a couple 100 a years (in your head, at least) compounded is definitely a good idea for any car. Sooner or later it will cost you something......

The most important thing is for that time not to come really early (first 4-5 years)...

I have a question. In every one of these CamCord posts no one ever mentions the Nissan Maxima as a contender for the same market. Why? Is it no longer in the CamCord market so to speak?

Have you seen it? That grill and those lines it might as well be a 14 year old wearing headgear braces.

I had a choice of buying a new or used engine, 8k or 4k cost on a 2010. It had 83k on it and was otherwise like new.

I won’t be buying another Mazda, despite the fact I loved it, especially its handling.
Mazda CX-9 came with a Ford-designed 3.5L V6 engine, not Mazda, during joint-venture agreement. In return, Mazda designed and supplied a 4-cylinder for Ford Fusion and Ford Escape. Of course, Mazda-designed was more-reliable.

When the water pump doesn't fail, Ford's 3.5L/3.7L V6 was the most-reliable American V6 you could buy, according to Consumer Reports.

Accord 4 cylinder engines use timing chains. Accord no longer has a 6 cylinder option.

Doesn't look any worse than the CamCord...at last not to me. I find all three of them equally distasteful..it just that no one ever talks about the Maxima.
