These tow trucks nowadays are downright reckless.

I once had a car towed... a 1989 Nissan 240SX. Got it out of the yard with only one wheel steering.......

Obviously not everyone has a choice about parking outside... I've lived in apartments for most of my adult life, and we're lucky around here to even get covered assigned parking (let alone a garage).

That being said, in my old neighborhood there was a string of similar thefts! We all had to park outside, some folks on the actual street, since there weren't as many spots as tenants' cars - and the thieves got at least 5-6 cars just on our side, leaving them all on blocks after stealing the wheels & tires. Crappy part was when one car later got ticketed, since they didn't remove their tire-less car soon enough. Talk about adding insult to injury!

As for what you can do when this happens? I guess you hire a flatbed tow truck to relocate it somewhere safe/legal, until you can replace the stolen parts. Really lousy of people to do that, since for some of us it would be a major hardship to suddenly replace 4 tires + wheels/caps. I lost all of my hubcaps over a period of time (about a year) due to the potholes in San Jose, and still haven't gotten around to replacing them. Those were just cheap snap-on hubcaps, too, but I need that $50-100 for much more important things right now! At least I still have my tires, lol.

Hit up your local junk yard or look on Craigslist. Use lock lugs next time.

Believe me if a thief wants your wheels they can get them off even if you have wheel locks on them, I’ve seen them snap off the stud with the locking lug on it.

If you can, buy some steel wheels wrapped in tires.

I thought the bulk of rim thefts were of aftermarket rims. Have they gone back to stealing factory rims and if so any particular brand/style?

And the car is just sitting on blocks? How do you fix this? You can't tow it. You have to put it on a flatbed. But wouldn't that cause damage to the axle/what's left of the car?
Junkyard to get some spares to drive around. Call your insurance company to get new wheels. They should reimburse for the junkyard wheels
