Ticket #3: Citation for destruction of private property. (I was late for a college exam, speeding to it on tight curves in the rain. Totalled my car. Go figure.)

Ticket #4: Speeding. 82 in a 60. (I was a bridesmaid that night and still in my dress. The next day I was leaving for Michigan so he made it a 80 in a 60 so I wouldn't have to appear in court. Yay. Me.)

Ticket #5: Speeding. 43 in a 30. (Still convinced that wasn't true - I was in Tennessee looking for a street I needed to turn on. Why would I be speeding? Huh, I was going to a church for rehearsal to be yet ANOTHER bridesmaid.)

Ticket --: Speeding. 54 in a 35. (In Vermont they give you a first warning... haha)

Ticket --: Speeding. 72 in a 60. (Got off with a warning in Arkansas - "But officer, I'm new to the state..." I still had Missouri plates, even though I'd been living in Arkansas for about two years by then.)

Add to that, three other accidents and a warning for driving without headlights and there you have my driving record. lol

But I swear to you that I really am a good driver! It's the other folks on the road that can't freakin' drive!
Thats more impressive than my record. kudos

Dude. Where do you live? I wanna move there! About 8 years ago, I got a speeding ticket for going 91 on the freeway... (65 limit) He was actually nice about it and brought it down to 91, I was actually doing 101. (I later apparently learned I was lucky, because they can arrest you for over 100) Anyway, that dang ticket was $688... No court appearance, just paid the fine... I guess I got off lucky, but what the heck... I've always wondered why it was so expensive... I've seen plenty of others get tickets for high speed, but it was never almost $700.

I've always been a fast driver, and I've had several speeding tickets. Nowhere near the number I deserve. I developed an indifferent attitude toward tickets at a pretty young age. It was pretty common among my group of friends to get tickets, so it was just never seen as that big a deal. We just laughed it off and kept speeding. I still do, for the most part.

I got caught speeding through Nevada once and the officer gave me a choice between a speeding ticket (very expensive) or an "unlawful waste of fuel" citation, (at that time it was 15 bucks).
I doubt if I have to tell ya which one I chose !

This summer I received my first speeding ticket while on vacation. I was traveling through a small town in ME trying to find the Maine Turnpike. According to the officer, I was going 50 in a 35 zone. He was kind and lowered it to 49, which lowered the fine.

I decided to simply pay the fine of $137.00 since I was out of state and while I know I was going more than 35, I didn't think it was 50 either, probably around 45. Interestingly, New York State does not recognize out of state speeding violations unless impairment was involved (it wasn't), so no points on my license.

I was very careful the rest of the trip and even since I've been home. A lesson learned I guess.

You're a good citizen. I'd have been speeding again as soon as I pulled away and the cop was out of sight. I once got two tickets ten minutes apart from each other. I was pissed at myself for being stupid enough to allow them to bust me twice so close together. I've really only gotten tickets the times I've let my guard down and gotten careless. If you watch out carefully enough, you can speed quite a bit within reason and not get caught.

A number of years ago, I once got a ticket going 70 in a 55 in NC. Soon afterward I got a letter from a local lawyer offering to handle the ticket for me, for a price. I decided to go to traffic court and see what happens.

The guy ahead of me asked the judge to reduce the fine, and the judge said "We don't do that here." I knew then it was not going to be a good day. I ended up having to pay the whole thing, about $300 something, I forget the exact amount. It was several hundred dollars. I guess I should have hired the lawyer.

I got no points on my license, afaik. I was driving a rental so that may have been a factor.

That's a heavy fine for such a minor violation, especially years ago. I thought Connecticut fines were high, but here it only would have been about $150.

Default perhaps

the ticket was issued in another state other than the one your license is in? it's possible it didn't go on your license because of that. i am licensed in NY but i got a ticket in delaware. i paid the ticket so everything was clear

my record:

licensed since 1979

1982: 70 in a 55, NY State Thruway I 87

1990: 49 in a 30, Rockland County, NY

1995: Red light and seatbelt, NYC

2000: Yellow line crossing, Westchester Co, NY

2007: Seatbelt, NYC

Nothing since
