I agree, but the ELR is quite a bit more money, both new AND used.
They're getting there. ELR can be had in the low $20Ks now. https://www.brenengen.com/auto/used-...m-wi/31095117/
I want to get one when I retire. Don't expect to drive much, so I should be able to go nearly all electric.
One has a problem with his house wiring that he blames GM for, a couple are on the 2nd gen cars, and only a couple are on the first gen cars. And no, I don't know of anyone with those issues. And I'm on the Volt forums. Most on your link gave the car 4 or 5 stars, so I'm not sure that you can call that a bad car.

Volts can be had in the $8k range now, though. But that's the 2011 and 2012 versions with higher miles and no Hold mode, so I wouldn't even look at them.
I'd love an ELR, though, they just look so good and I rarely use the rear doors and back seats of mine.

I driven an Eclipse Spyder for years, so a coupe works for me.
They're close to the same size... ELR is slightly larger.
Yup, and when they hit the end of their useful life in cars, they tend to get repurposed as battery backups for UPS systems in commercial settings.
The problem is this really doesn’t happen. It’s cheaper to make a new battery than it is to recycle a new one, and the same goes for repurposing for stationary storage. https://www.energy-storage.news/blog...life-as-statio
No batteries will ever hit ‘dumps’. Way to valuable. They are and will continue to be recycled.
Not when batteries are cheaper and more efficient. New fresh cobalt and lithium made by child labor in the Congo is cheaper than recycled materials made by union labor here. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbs...investigation/
I think it will happen even faster then folks expect at the moment. Battery technology is rapidly increasing alongside of the autonomous capabilities. The new tesla roadster has a 620 mile range. That covers all of my daily driving, and resolves one of the biggest cons about electric vehicles.
.
I would think so.
