THE FASTEST I ever drove in a car was 95mph. It was in an 1100 cc engine 1963 R-8 Renault in 1970 when I was crazy and still a senior in college.
Too bad it couldn’t have been in a real sports car.
I was passing a Volkswagen Beetle on Route 81 in Pennsylvania, and we were both passing a PA State Cop with his radar out. He never went after either of us. He must have been hitting his radar unit, since everyone knows that neither of those cars could go that fast.
Later I had to go to driving school, after I got too many “points”. I was sitting next to a guy who blew by a state cop at 2:00 in his vette at about 155mph. The cop went after him but fell behind immediately, and then the guy in the vette pulled off. The cop asked him, “Why’d you stop? I could never have caught you.” The guy’s response: “I was out of gas.”
2018 Tesla Model S P100D. Went the speed limit and drove responsibly.
Fastest I ever drove was in 2015 in a 2011 Honda Accord V6, got up to 100 mph on an empty interstate just to see how 100 felt. Normally don't go above the high 70s.
To 60, launch control in Panamera Turbo or 2018 911 GTS. Wow, that was fun! Top speed, my Cayenne got to 145 very easily last summer. Gonna beat on a Tesla Beluga Whale sometime soon.
The fastest car I have been in is a friend's Audi R8-V10 Plus. It hits 60 in 3.2 seconds. It's actually a little scary to ride in if you're not used to a car that accelerates that fast. But I've never been in it when he's driven it over 100. I'm not sure what's the point of a car that can top out at such a high speed as that one can when the speed limit is 80 at best, though it IS a looker. He actually got stopped by a cop once, not for a ticket (he wasn't speeding - at the time) but just because the guy wanted to ask him about the car.
A single turbo MkIV Supra. Probably a 9 second car.
I've been underneath my friends 7 second tube chassis "monte carlo", but never in it.
