Fastest: just under 100MPH in a Rover 75. Traveling from Scotland to England.
Fastest Vehicle: Probably the same Rover. 2.0 or 2.5 Litre V6

I suspect the OP never meant it to mean, "sitting in a parked vehicle," as some responders have indicated.

Yes I was thinking either actually driving the car or being a passenger in it under a hard acceleration on the street or track.

This friend that has the Audi S4 likes his quick cars. He has owned a Mustang 5.0, a big ol Impala the one with the 350 before GM made it into a 6cyl grocery getter, a sport version of the Maxima, I can't remember what that had for an engine but it was a 6 speed standard/manual that was pretty cool plus a few more go fast family haulers but the Audi trounces them all.

I think we hit 60 in about 3 seconds. The raw power pushed my brain to the back of my skull. Needless to say I was impressed.

There is quick and then there is fast and then there is deadly.

I'm embarrassed to say that he could blow the doors off my Cobra all while he carries his family in comfort.

That S4 is some car. My brain was spinning from the acceleration.

What is the fastest car you have been in?
The entire S line Audi doesn't get enough credit the S6 was faster than the m5 by a lot for $30k less dollars and 120 less hp.

I hit the 130 mph/210 kph limiter on a rental VW Passat on the autobahn. I've driven a Z06 C6 Corvette in the US at far more sedate speeds. That's the fastest car I've ever driven. I've been in the passenger seat of a Lamborghini in Vancouver and never got above 90 kph. I haven't ever had a car I've owned much above 90 mph and that was only very briefly. There's no point in getting a ticket.

Top end, 140 in my Mustang GT. It was still going but I let off. Press you in the seat and hold you there, my dad's '69 Dodge Charger R/T 440 Magnum, that was power. My fastest speed sensation. Going 80 down a narrow path beside a hedge row, on my Honda XR 650.

Thought there was a thread on this in years' past, but can't find it.

My 911 Turbo maxed out at 190mph given sufficient roadway. 996 Series. See YouTube, "Autobahn." I hit 162mph per the GPS a few times.

Current GTS, had a fun run in Canada up against some sport bikes at 140mph, some months ago. Not particularly legal, but way hell and gone. That car tops out 180-190mph too, they say. Given the aerodynamics of 911s and etc., they'll do it: sleek and slippery cars.

On the faster tracks around here, liter bikes will hit a buck sixty on the straights. My 600, more like a buck twenty, which was fast enough for my purposes when at track schools and racing in in the 1990s.

I had my Blackbird flat-out, once. I rolled it back above about 170mph, too much happening too fast.

My GTS would be really, really happy cruising at 115mph or so, but so much for Autobahns here in the USA.

I realize that, and my friend, who lives in LA, actually IS from Germany. But in the US there IS a speed limit and I was referring to it being pointless for a car to go that fast *here*.

btw, I was on the Autobahn this summer and was disappointed at how slowly people were driving.

quickest or fastest? Big difference. I've been in many fast cars that can do over 200mph; but never drove them over 120 or so.

I don't go really fast (130+) much because it's too dangerous/congested in Socal.

But my new NSX will do 0-60 in 2.8. And I can do that at stoplights around here all day.

Launch Control puts a big smile on my face.

It's not necessarily the speed, it's the road and conditions. My scariest was in old Porsche with a friend who drove up and down mountain passes in Colorado for 3 hours in a blinding snowstorm perfecting his 4-wheel drift. At one point we did a 360 spin and the front of the car stopped on the edge of steep cliff, less than a yard from the edge.
