There was a whole lot of government intervention.
Governments mandated the change from analog to digital television.
They are going to do the same thing with cars.

Note that I didn't say the U.S. government.
But it's going to happen anyway. The alternative is getting left behind the Euros and Chinese technologically.

Analog to digital was to get that last vestiges of analog users to get off the frequencies the FCC had wanted for other uses. Most people had already moved on to digital by then. EV’s seem to be the only advanced technology a government either had to threaten or bribe you into using. In other words it’s not self sustainable on its own.

1) you don’t know if I have a kid
2) kids aren’t an advanced technology.

Try and keep up with the analogy.

Broadcasters had not moved on at all.
They only did it because governments told them they were going to do it.

People did not buy HDTVs in big numbers before there were HDTV broadcasts. I bought one in 2006. It was expensive.
Ditching your VCR for a "digital" DVD player isn't even close to the same thing.

If we’re soon going to EVs than why are companies still spending millions building new gas stations? They are currently building one near me that will have 120 gas pumps.

I wouldn’t consider Alabama to be a good measuring stick of current technological trends.

The point is, politicians hand out tax breaks and those breaks have little to do with whether something is new technology or not.

One can indeed look at electric as old technology I suppose as some of the first cars were electric but the technology to go 250-300 miles is newer.

EV's in the long term may not be the answer but we will move from ICE. It doesn't matter what your politics are, it is going to happen.

It’s not being built for Alabamians, it’s being built for I-10 traffic, along with midwesterners and Canadians headed to the beach. And yes, there are lots of Canadian tourists and property owners down here, and I just can’t see people driving that far in an EV.
