True but it IS inconsiderate not to move over for merging vehicles if traffic flow easily allows it...possibly stupid and potentially dangerous as well.

Just had my latest episode last week. Road construction required going down to one lane so everyone was merging into the left lane as required. Just as I get to the entry point where they funnel us through a temp section of road there is a car beside me in the right lane wanting over. Of course, there’s no where for me to go as I’m already in the left lane. I don’t think anything about it until a few seconds later when we’re through the construction area and this suv with Pennsylvania tags goes flying past me only to swerve right in front of me. I had to hit the breaks hard and he turned into a gas station, maybe hoping I would follow him?

After I had a few moments to think about what just happened I got very angry. All I could think of was if my family wasn’t in the car with me I would go back and confront the guy. Then I thought about how he could have caused my family to be seriously injured and then I got MAD! My wife is telling me to let it go and eventually I did. Only to think about it a lot the next day. Sometimes I just say to myself that for people like this jerk in the suv, it’s a very good thing for them that it didn’t happen a few years ago.

Not long. I usually yell a couple of expletives to myself and move on down the road. If they're a real idiot I might blow the horn, but that's about as far as I go.

Now, in Florida, if you had followed him into the station you could have easily got yourself shot for threatening the driver. And they would have gotten off. Given the crazy gun was in a lot of states, it's best just to move along.

I always tell hubby get my gun out, I'm going to shoot their tires out. Then we laugh and travel on our way. I have a baseball bat too. It's just not worth getting killed, raising your blood pressure, seeing red or stressing out.

Until the next incident, on Long Island that takes less than 5 minutes unless I am just pulling into my driveway. Then it lasts till I drive again LOL

Some combination of brake, accelerator and steering wheel has saved me every time.
As others point out, it is not the duty of existing traffic to move over and let new traffic in. Sometimes they don't and sometimes they can't, but it's not their job anyway.

I almost never get mad in traffic. But I was a long haul trucker, so I've had lots of practice.
