I remember a friend of mine back in the 80s bought a brand new Nissan pick up truck, (a bare bones model), it did not come with a bumper! (that was optional/extra)

I made them for my truck. I tow and I don’t want my tires to fling rocks on the trailer

I got the factory flaps on my '15 Cruze. They look like they belong on there.

Another thing you don't see that often anymore are running boards. I know they are optional on many trucks and SUV's but people don't get them?
Mudflaps came standard on my ‘05 truck but I don’t know if new models do. They also are not what I consider real mudflaps, which are flexible rubber and hang down more.

I am a short, older woman and never needed running boards on any of my or my husband’s 4WD trucks or SUVs. They look like a place to trap and hold mud, ice, and rocks. If a vehicle is so tall I need running boards, I would not buy it, or I would install one of the steps that collapses flat and stays out of the way when not actually being used. So far, the tallest stepup has been into a 4WD F150; I use the grab handle as safety/assistance and that’s good enough.

Running boards added style to my Dodge Dakota. I never needed them. It made the truck look lower and wider.
