Apparently, for some years now the most popular car color in the US (also mostly everywhere else too) is white, followed by black, gray and silver. Is that because consumers are a bit shy of flashy things and tend to play it safe when and if they are buying a new car?
That trend has persisted over the years. Meaning the likelihood of a flood of more adventurous colors on the market is not great, hence, the rarer it is, the higher price tag it can command?
What is the deal? Is it because everyone is just in a really cranky mood and just doesn’t feel like happy colors?
There used to be some pretty spectacular car colors around the turn of the century.

I guess you might find some explanation here:

Here is more to it:

Will that trend change anytime soon?

Italian cars need to be red, in rare cases yellow. German cars should be silver, or black. MG's should be green.

White is for appliances.

What is with the Asz-Ugly colors Toyota and Kia are putting out these days? They are the colors of what comes out of babie's two ends!

I see lots of weird colors everywhere. I wouldn't personally choose them if I bought a new car, just because they'll end up outdated.

Because people who want orange or purple cars are a very limited niche. Like on election day, people choose the one they dislike least. Marketers know that,

I believe its been shown that red cars get more tickets, and some insurers uprate them

One of my trucks is a rare copper color. I like it. It’s different than anything else. I’ve driven white trucks for a good portion of my life. I wouldn’t buy a white car to save my life. Of course my wife’s suv is....white. But hey it’s not mine
I would buy purple, orange, yellow, copper, red,
I like off beat colors.

They show some really interesting colors on the Chicago car show. I also heard that two colors might become trendy soon. Personly I like cars that have character. A color is the first thing that makes us
like (or dislike) a car. Not many people keep them for long enough to be worry that the colors get outdated. Custom paint and wraps could be awesome and not ghetto. I also would love to see more chrome.

Red always fades when sitting in the sun over time. Intense sun. And black looks sexy and is sleek and so Batman. . . But. . . The interior is so hot during the summer. So many white cars on the road now and they're all so boring.
