Also in my experience with this car is when the temp gauge starts creeping up over the middle mark, it continues to go up all the way till it overheats. The thermostat never allows it to go over the middle mark when its operating properly.

I plan to work on the car tomorrow and well keep all your ideas in my mind and hopefully remedy the problem. Thanks.
Ah! You live around Fairbanks, 6.7 Traveler Anyway, it seems that the antifreeze and the thermostat are fine, so try this the next time the temperature continues creeping up and get near the hot mark. Leave the motor running and see if the radiator fan is running. The answer to your problem will be either the fan, or a bunch of snow and ice preventing the fan from running. Also, if your automobile has an electric fan, remember to check the fuse. If all of that is good, check the water pump. But more than likely the problem is with the cooling fan.
