Hey it worked for Jake and Elwood.

"What happened to the Caddy? The Bluesmobile?"

"I traded it for a microphone."

"OK, sounds reasonable. Fix the cigarette lighter."

"We're two hours from Chicago, we've got half a tank of gas, a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses."

(or actually bought one, or knows of someone who did)

It seems like an affordable way to obtain a sturdy vehicle.
I first met Seton Montgomerie back in 2003 or 2004, when I lived in San Diego and he had an open lot with a canopy for protection when he was working on cars. He's been buying, refurbishing, and selling ex-police cars since longer ago than that. Some of his inventory is strictly for use in movie and TV show crash scenes. But he also has clean Crown Vics and also Chevy Tahoes and Ford Explorers.

I can't post a link but if you search for "used police cars for sale Orange County" his shop should pop up first.

Thanks, that's a bit closer to me than Chicago!
