Nothing here about Volkswagen offering a pickup in the US and Canada. Maybe that's a step too far for Ford.

Nope Ford to make a small pickup for VV off the Ranger platform to be sold in Europe. VW knows that they can’t compete with the big3 in the pickup market.

Ford is WELL rooted in Europe. Actually, even makes some decent cars that you won't ever see in US.

But anyway. Two of the crappiest reliability giants joining their forces? What would be the child then? At least, some Ford models were Ok, when Ford was in bed with Mazda...

I hope not.

They were pretty unimpressive.

I have seen small VW pickups in Mexico that are never seen in the US.

They sell Golf convertibles in Europe that you can't buy here.

The Chrysler vans badged as VWs were not a success.

The reason the VW Routan was not a good selling vehicle in the USA it was more expensive than the Dodge minevan so why would you pay more for a VW which is just a Dodge with a different front end that’s cheaper than the VW Routan. VW and Chrysler go way back the plant that builds the Ram pickup was a VW plant that VW never got up and going. And look at the Dodge Omni and Plymouth Horizon kind of looks like the original VW Rabit they used a VW block on some of their engines.

I don't think that's right. I remember looking at the Routan specs when they first came out and comparing them to the Grand Caravan and the Town & Country. The Routan had the 4.0-liter V6 and 6-speed automatic in 2008-2010, same as the top Dodge and Chrysler models. The Routan did not have the tricky fold-flat rear seats, but as I recall it was actually priced $300 or $500 cheaper than the Chrysler Town & Country.

What I remember about the Routan was that it was basically a Chrysler minivan with VW badges.
