No, if I’m going to pay over $35k for a Lariat I want it to sound smooth like a V6, not like a 4cyl economy car. When you floor it to pass someone you can definitely tell the difference.

Guess i am never buying a truck again unless it is S10 size with a reg cab and a 450hp+ V8. Love my Vette, but would rather have a small truck that is fast.

Seriously? Compare the Ranger sound at 5:10 vs the Toyota sound at 5:34 and it doesnít sound that much different to me. Maybe iím going deaf....

Iím not blind, though, so Iíd gladly accept that Ranger sound after seeing the Ranger destroy the Taco on the drag race.

That being said, also note they were way over-revving the Ranger engine compared to the Taco. Ranger has peak torque at 3,000RPM and the Taco is at 4,000 RPM so they should not be testing decibels at the same elevated RPM. Given that, and the Rangers 10-speed tranny over the Taco 6-speed, you have a far more advanced powertrain that will drive a lot better. (And faster as the video showed us.)

The Xtreme was the best looking truck. They should have had a SS version with at least a 5.3.
