I have noticed over the last few years the prevalance of super-bright headlights seems to be increasing. Many cars now have low beams so bright they really make it difficult to see anything when they are going in the opposite direction.

I assume if cars are coming like this from the factory they must be within regulation, does anyone know if there are any plans to maybe reduce the brightness maximum? I mean, if cars are coming out with lights that really blind the crap out of me, maybe the regulations need to be stricter. I can't be the only one who notices this, right?

Dont look at them. Theres always been that danger with badly adjusted lights. Most people cant stop fixating on them when it catches their eye.. look for the white line/ edge of the road. Not the easiest at first been when you live inna VERY rural area with virtually no road lighting its a common occurance.

I'm all for having those bright headlights....as long as there are no oncoming vehicles within a certain distance. Eventually, vehicles should have sensors to either dim or adjust bright headlights when an oncoming vehicle is detected.

LOL, don't look at them??? No kidding! I'm not an insect drawn to lights - I'm trying to look at the road ahead of me and some people's lights are so bright it makes it impossible to make out anything else from the contrast.

Yes, and Audi already has production laser lights. I can imagine that!!

As soon as there will be enough crashes and $$$ involved due to those, they will do something about them. As of now, it is completely out of control. People have no concern about others, all they care about is "me" and "my" convenience. They will buy the brightest chit possible, likely makes them hard between the legs, or something, as they know well enough how much they blind others. They will self-align them for "their" convenience again, to "see better". It does not matter, what you say here, it's the same moronic selfish desire to "show the world" that makes them put cherry bombs on exhaust.

Unti they do something, tint your windshield, as it helps greatly with summer heat too, and buy night vision glasses. They do not reduce brightness, but they sure take the painful edge off. I have gut feeling, they will start catching on this soon enough, as they did on window tints.

Tinting your windshield is among the worst recommendations you can give someone, particularly when you're talking about visibility and driver safety. The rest of the post is just as bad.

Hi all--

Poorly-aimed headlights make me really, really glad that my windows are tinted.

As to buying the brightest headlights possible, I did that once upon a time - until I realized I was replacing them once every few months. I went back to the regular lights before long.

Yes they are.

Dealers claim studies prove these new headlights do nto blind other drivers. My eyes prove otherwise.

They've become ridiculous. They are well beyond what is needed for the dirver of the car they are on, and are excessive for the drivers of oncoming cars. I'd wish they'd outlaw the extra bright halogens.
