OK so I have turned 50 and in good health and enjoying a healthy change I have made to my life.
I have driven a good assortment of vehicle's over the years from tractors to Tesla's.
I had a 2012 VWTouareg TDi when I moved to FL but turned it in and made money from the emissions scandal. I bought a 2011 Toyota Sienna to replace it because it is so practical and reliable for what I might of needed at the time.
Still have the Sienna and it's doing fine. However it is totally boring and honestly I feel like treating myself whilst the going is still good. So here is my short list.
1. Audi TT-RS. I had an Audi quattro in the UK and loved it beyond reason. Only sold it because I moved to the USA. The 5 cylinder engine is the best sounding in the world.
2. Volvo S60R. Sleeper car but all old and probably beaten to hell at this point.
3. Volvo C70. Newer years still around and a few with the manual transmission. Convertible.
4. VW Touareg TDi again lol. It was a fine SUV and can now be had fixed, newer and lower miles than mine for less money than I sold for.
I guess I am really asking permission to buy a TT-RS lol
TT-RS sounds fun. I had a TT the first year they were out. It surprised me but, because of that cavernous hatch opening, I could actually carry a lot of stuff in it in a pinch.
TT-RS for sure, I rarely see them. Friend has a early to mid 2000's S60R that's he's in my opinion wasted lots of money on, decent car, but nothing special and lots of problems.

I guess you've never heard a V-12 Ferrari, a Merlin, or a Pratt & Whitney 4360?

A midlife crisis with "Volvo" and "VW" on the list, pah. That's actually an acknowledge of imminent death.
Of everything still in VAG, though, that being Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, SEAT, Å koda and the flagship Volkswagen, Audi is in least "in there" in terms of interesting vehicles available in the US. You could do waaaay worse than a TT-RS, like...everything else on your list.
All that said, might want to take a real close look at Cayman S or (better) GTS instead. I've never, not once, heard a bad word about them and Car and Driver is always just about vomiting on themselves with excitement when they drive one. I'd pickup a GT4 in a bubblegum color, personally, out of that line if the $150K for a GT3 is too wallet-busting. All that is probably more than you'd want to spend, though.
Pickup a 911 if you want to really do it right, but they're expensive and hold value exceptionally well. I'm contemplating dumping my crisis-mobile while it has less than 20K miles, at which time exotics start to take a real hit.
I've loved the styling of all the TTs and think the MKI still looks relevant today. I was thinking about picking up a used Audi R8 V8 with the manual transmission, but I think I missed my entry point as prices have been creeping up over the last 3 years. Ever try a Honda S2000 or current Mazda Miata? Not the fastest cars, but very balanced.

I test drove a 2017 911 GTS and launch controlled it a few times. When I returned I rode in a GT4....that car was noticeably better! Loud, rev matching, fun time even as a passenger.

Get the Audi. It seems like that is the car that speaks to you.
