GM to continue to build the Impala and Cadillac CT6 until 2020.

GM extends operation at Detroit-Hamtramck plant until at least January 2020

Probably the State getting on them. They took a bunch of people's homes and businesses through eminent domain and tore them all down for that plant and the plant never fully opened. There was a lot of stink being raised by people old enough to remember the taking and the destruction of what could have been a pretty cool town. then you only partly open the plant and shut it down?

There will be plenty of demand for CT6's if they build them with Blackwings.

Yeah well I’m a GM tragic ... but the CT6 Is actually the only GM car that is built on its own platform apart from the Vette ( and they ruined that with the XLR) in 30 years

It is the only Cadillac I've ever somewhat thought was a decent product, but then I hear they are cancelling it, good to hear they letting it live longer.

Iím a S-class tragic too ... Iíd rate the CT6 about 80% of a new S560 to actually drive with the actual suspension being set up a bit too sporty like about halfway between a normal S class and a AMG car. The interior operations are actually better but the actual interior quality and materials are still way off. Itís easily the best car that has EVER been built in the USA. They are actually going to continue building it... even if they closed the plant they were going to move production to another location.

The bad part is, they're building it now when sedan sales are slumping worldwide, a day late, dollar short...

I know.... I live in hope that itís just a crazy fad ...

That said I know of someone ( it isnít me but Iím drooling about it ) who has just bought a brand new Lincoln Navigator ( body on frame with actual independent rear suspension! ) and is having a designer and shop ( both are multiple Ridler winners) basically rebody the entire chassis as a retro modern interpretation of a 1960ís Lincoln Continental ! Itís a massive project... but itís proof that some deadicated folks still get it.
