The drivers here in Minnesota are very passive aggressive which can be pretty irritating. I wouldn’t characterize drivers here as being particularly bad though (with the exception of zipper merging, ugh).
Anyway, I’d have to say that drivers in south Florida are the worst I’ve ever experienced so that’d be my vote.
The most common complaint I hear from those in the mountains about flatlanders is that they drive too slow around the curves.
Annoying, yes. But, I'd hardly call losing the ability to drive as fast as you want "dangerous."
I’d be happy if they did the speed limit. Instead they do about 10-15 UNDER and just about come to a complete stop. It also makes for a long drive on a road that has 20-25 curves on it, you have a row of cars behind them getting miffed , which can cause some drivers to do something stupid. There are turn offs for slower drivers but they hardly ever use them.
Tampa is nowhere near US19. I live west of US 19 on the gulf and west Pasco is the worst part of US19 with red lights every 200 ft that stop you.
I used to frequently go into Pasco on that stretch of US19 and dreaded it everytime. In addition to all the damn traffic lights, the speed limit dropping from 55 to 45mph after entering the county from the south adds to the aggravation. That highway really should've received the same upgrades as it did in Pineallas county.
Florida's problem is that people move here from other places and bring their bad habits with them. 800 people a day move to Florida.
Having retired out of Florida, I can attest 750 of those 800 are bad drivers.
Toss in tourist season, along w/the "blue hairs" cutting across 5 lanes of traffic on I-95; and the locals become stressed.
Then they drive more aggressively, cuz' it takes double the commute time.
