I’d buy a Honda product a hundred times before I bought a Fiat.
My SIL replaced her Honda Fit (she hated it, called it the Honda Sh*t) and replaced it with a FIAT 500X.
Not only was the FIAT much better equipped than the the Honda but it was also a lot cheaper. It's a lot cheaper than its Jeep Renegade twin as well.
It also doesn't beat the crap out of her every time she takes it on the freeway. She is very pleased with her decision.
SIL is a buy and hold person, so she doesn't care about resale... she'll take her savings up front.
She's had it awhile and no problems at all so far, so you can't say fairer than that.
Camry and Accord are reliable cars for people who don’t know sh*t about cars. For the most part Toyota and Honda are brands for the same kind of people. And this whole thread proves my point.
I agree with most of what you said. Those new turbo engines are definetly not going to last as long as a naturally aspirated engine. That’s actually the main reason why I will refuse to buy any new (2018 +) Honda.
A ton of Honda fans boys will argue with you all day long saying how the turbos are just as reliable as the 4 cylinder and V6 engines..At the end of the day we all know about the reliability behind turbocharged engines. They just aren’t built to last.
A well maintained 90s model Accord or Civic with low miles would probably outlive a 2019 model Accord or Civic.
When in comes to the CVT, they are built in house by Honda so they are probably just as reliable as an automatic but I would still prefer an automatic over a CVT any day.
I have come to the conclusion that older Honda’s and Toyota’s from the 1990s were much simpler and more reliable vehicles compared with today’s models.
That's old school thinking. I'm active everyday on Honda forums, I rarely see complaints of turbo failure. The 1-2 that did fail were modified cars. Besides, if they do fail they aren't that expensive to replace, I'm sure there's turbos laying around in salvage yards. They're easy to access(you can open up the hood and it's right in front of your eyes) and can be replaced with basic tools. V6's are dying for a reason, across all brands. They're not as efficient, and have more moving parts....more to go wrong. It's not being a fanboy, I4 turbos are replacing v6's on many brands of cars including luxury brands.

Ok, Mr Car Genius.
Which reliable, reasonably priced sedan should one purchase? In your esteemed opinion.
