That's one way to clean things up, but that's a real bummer.

I believe it varies from city to city and category to category. It's free as long as usage is light and abuse is minimal. Fees for cars and job listings and so forth start and go up proportionally as that changes.

Yeah I see that if I try to create a car for sale post in Portland.

But I've seen a pretty sizable adoption of Facebook marketplace for selling cars here.

If you can't spring for $5 to sell a car......... (too many are trying to list them in the yard/garage sales, etc.) - pay $5!

Put it up on Offerup. Everything is on smart phones now anyway. craigslist is so passe. Likely that's why they start charging, to compensate for low volumes.

So they can run it for free at high volume but have to charge for low volume... got it.

I don't think so, the way I read it starting 4/15 everyone will have to pay $5 to list a car. This should get rid of a lot of scam postings, but at the same time it's sad to see this change.

Okay. I've used it in different cities and the fee categories have varied.

They should charge $5 to try and buy something off of Craigslist. About 90% of my responses to ads are scams ran through Google Translate.

I totally applaud this decision. It'll keep the spam way down. Craigslist has gotten run over by spammer/scammer wanna-bes.
