If I loved a car and knew its history, assuming I'd kept up routine maintenance, $1K wouldn't be too much to put in her. Especially considering the hidden potential cost of a used car.
But you know her. Maybe you're expecting bearing or xmsn or a/c failure. Maybe she's a rust bucket.
Hopefully you'll find one you love as much.
The reason I don’t is because there are some other issues going on as well and I’m afraid that it will cost almost as much of I go down that road.
I've always been curious: why do people assign the female gender to a car??
Ships, and thus airplanes, and thus cars have traditionally been assigned the female gender, I really don't know why. Male control of women perhaps? I always think of my plane as my buddy (male), like a good friend, and yes I am heterosexual.
Have owned E46 M3, E90 M3, and there's currently a GT350 in my garage. Yet, I miss my STI hatchback (3G) that I just traded in a month ago. It had just over 100K and was my beater for 10 years. But I loved that car. Hopefully they will bring back the hatch in 2021.
It’s a travesty Subaru doesn’t sell a WRX/STI hatch in the USA.
There's a news article floating around about a million mile Honda Accord. I got a "new" used engine at 350k and again around 700k, rest of the car seemed to have held up really well.
I'm at 250k in my Insight and plan to keep it a good many years yet.
Though I am partial to my Crown Vic and would just get another one.
