1989 Plymouth Voyager. Do you think it will make it to Shreveport,Louisiana? What are your experiences with traveling with a older model car? We are contemplating getting a new one.

Well is it mechanicly sound...motor & transmission in good condition? If yes then enjoy your trip!! Now any car can break down unexpectly So If you dont already have it I would get AAA that away you are not left stranded between towns. & they can recomend repair shops & hotels & all kinds of emergancy help....oh carry a cell phone too.

Thanks!
Have you had an experience were you drove one of your older model vehicles out of town? We had the vehicle looked at on yesterday and the mechanic said everything was fine and that he would not have a problem driving the vehicle out of town. I just feel safer driving a newer model to go for a longer trip. Any insight on that?

A friend of mine drove thier 15 yr old car from Martinsburg WV to the Grand Canyon [somewhere out west hehe] plus took lots of side trips Their only complaint was the price of gas.... Any way if you are not comfortable why not rent a car for the trip.... How many miles from where you live to where you are going....just nosey...hehehe

A lot
I think the trip is 850 miles from where we are. That is just what i was thinking to just rent a car. Thanks! But....we are overdue for a new car.

New car might be ok But anything used might need hidden work...I would rent car for trip then buy after you get back to have a chance to work out the bugs...o if you live near WV & want to sell the mini van let me know...

You probably put 850 miles on the car every two weeks now at home.
I don't see much of a difference just because you're going on a trip. Same car. Same miles. If it's running good now, it will probably still run good on your trip.
I wouldn't worry about it unless the thing is burning a bunch of oil or you have bad tires on it.
