Yeah I'm a gremlin enthusiast. I'll buy one restored one day if I can.

I had a Gremlin back in the day. Standard shift, plain Jane as far as options.

My Gremlin story:

Back in the early to mid '70s I had a 340 Duster, 4 spd and 3:55 rear.

This was in Houston and Westheimer Blvd was the scene for late night stop light drag racing.

A purple Gremlin sporting Cragar SS mags pulled up and blipped the throttle and I thought "a 304 with open mufflers, this will be easy".

All I saw were tail lights. My guess is he dropped in a 390 or 401. I never found out. He was outta there.

Javelins were bad ass too. I liked the rambler as well. I remember seeing eagle wagons up north and it blew my mind such a compact car was a 4x4.

Seeing a small station wagon with mud tires on it was rather unusual.

I have to admit the pre fender flair Javelins were really cool. I was too young to buy one and I was into MG's at the time anyway.

A Gremlin X was a nice looking car.

The only AMC I didn't care for was the Pacer. Though they did make a few of those with a 401 in it too.
