Let's be clear - you are stereotyping SUV's - they are not all "gas guzzlers". Very few are "gas guzzlers"

Fact is, there are many cars that get worse gas mileage than "SUV's" -

I would submit to you that you don't know what the owner of the SUV does, or does not pull on a regular basis.

I would submit to you that you do not know the lifestyle that causes the owner of the SUV to have an SUV -

I think calling it treason is way over the top.

However, anyone who drives an SUV or a gas guzzling truck as a daily driver absolutely has no right to complain about the high gas prices. And they are part of the problem.

My mother drives an a new Trailblazer. She doesnt complain about the high gas prices. She drives it as minimally as possible. And says herself that she has no right to complain. I agree with that.
The only way I would ever buy an SUV is if it was a hybrid that gave me awesome gas mileage.

My RAM drops down to 4 cylinders. So you can not assume I am getting low gas mileage.

thanks greatday, sorry i didn't clarify that. the SUV's i was referring to are the ones which guzzle gas! i think most people kinda figured that out. i also think that if you took the amount of "gas guzzling" suv's and trucks and compared them to the amount of rv's, boats etc, which require towing, i think that it is quite safe to say that a large percentage of "gas guzzling" suv's and trucks never pull anything. i am sure that you will choose to debate that further so why not start a new thread instead?

i do understand that some people are special and therefore need clarification. those are the same people that need mcdonalds to put warnings on their coffee cups!

I don't own an SUV because I don't need one...

I tow seasonally a 7500# Tandem Axle with my 91 Chevy Truck... If I had the occasion to take a lot of people with me... I would need an SUV with 3rd Row Seating...

Many can't afford the Luxury of a dedicated Tow Vehicle and need a Utility Vehicle that can perform many functions... SUV's do just that.

How is it an American, driving an American made vehicle in America can be guilty of Treason?

I'm old enough to remember hearing WWII vets using the term Treason for people buying vehicles built in Germany and Japan...

let me try a different tack here. does nobody see the link between our excessive consumption (be that cheap fights, thirsty autos, cheap chinese products) and our multiplying trade deficit?
does nobody see this deficit as a problem?
does everyone take the attitude that they will only start to be more frugal when the costs go up or when government steps in with regulation?

this article represents the way i see things going. it's only symbolic at the moment but if we don't address our balance of trade the saudis might just cotton on!

Unhappy this is dumb

Hey, why not treason tractor trailers while your at it. they use tons of fuel everyday. LEt's see here what else can we talk treason about. i'm sure if we put are minds to it we can find many more things. this thread is getting so rediculous, it's not even funny. just let people drive what they want. go pick on the rich rv drivers that waste hundreds of gallons of fuel.
