The issue really is - a matter of personal choice.
In the United States, "We" have the RIGHT to drive whatever we want to - be it a little tiny car (Smartcar - which is not very smart), a sub-compact (Yaris type), Compact, Mid Size, Full size.
Within those ranges are automobiles, Pickup trucks (including smaller ones like the Chev Colorado) and full size - which can be utilized for personal or work or both, and now the "Crossovers" and the Suv's - small, medium, large and REALLY large.
We all have a choice. If I have a big vehicle - and the gas prices go up - and my vehicle does not get as good of gas mileage as the Yaris - that is just too bad - I have to fork over the money necessary to fuel the vehicle - or make another decision -
But again - the Decision is MINE - not "Yours" - not the GOVERNMENT - MINE.
"You" should not tell others what they Need or don't Need. "You" don't know what I need or don't Need.

yes, but YOU are a good part of the reason why I have to pay high gas prices. Supply and demand, the greater the demand, the higher the prices. Thanks a lot.

No, I'm not. You don't know the gas mileage my vehicle gets - you are merely assuming

I mean you meaning SUV drivers in general. If the only people who drive SUV's were people who had a legitimate need for one, gas would not be so high.

Gas prices would be just the same - the Demand for oil is not merely for driving -
And, other countries such as India and China have now started demanding a much bigger share of available oil -
Again - it is MY choice as to what to drive - Not Yours

Great Cartoons - thanks
Think about this: The next time you go to the Grocery store, and carry out your groceries in that plastic bag, YOU are part of the problem
Or, the next time you buy a product wrapped in one of those BIG plastic packages, you are part of the problem
Or, the next time you buy something for your home, that is encased in plastic, you are part of the problem
Or, the next time you go to your doctor / hospital, and they insert an IV line into you, YOU are part of the problem
Or, the car you are driving with all the plastic parts - YOU are part of the problem.
