Well, if everyone took your advice, CD would exist no more. I'm not one of the sheeple. I'm glad you like the Suburban, I'm glad she does, I'm glad she can fill it up. I really don't care if she drives it all alone to the end of the block back and forth a million times a day with the A/C turned up all the way. I think it's a waste of money to drive one, and YOU aren't going to change my mind on that.

Well unlike YOU i dont come on here and act like my opinion is the only one. It seems like you do care what she drives as you have stated several times that you dont think her vehicle of choice is acceptable to you. Get off you high horse.

Sorry, but it doesn't make ANY sense for ANY family to waste money on a car that isn't fuel efficient. Now, if driving a car that's 5/9ths empty to school and back is ok with you, go for it.
Maybe you need to get glasses or maybe they are filling up TWO Suburbans or One Suburban AND a boat. Firsthand EXPERIENCE right here and it ONLY cost ME EXACTLY $92 to fill up MY Suburban with about an 1/8th of a tank still in it. I've got the receipt to prove it. Do the math. $200 to fill up a Suburban with CURRENT prices is NOT possible at all. Oh, and I NEVER get gas on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I try to get it at the latest by Thursday morning if I know I'm going to need it any time in the next several days. They start raising the prices on Thursday afternoon usually. In most cases I can get by w/ only filling up twice a month. Right now has just been EXTREMELY BUSY!
Gallons: 25.869
Price per Gallon: $3.879
Total: $100.35

LAST WEEKS gas bill:
Gallons: 26.151
Price per Gallon: $3.499
Total: $91.50

Those gas prices CAN be proven AS can be the SIZE of the gas tank IN a Suburban. Where on earth you saw someone getting a $200 gas bill they were buying premium AND a car wash AND filling up a boat.

Sorry, honey YOU can not dictate to ANYONE what kind of vehicle ANYONE can buy, own or drive. As a matter of fact in OUR business if you came in and purchased ANYTHING that is our main stay for our business it would be ILLEGAL for us to put it inside of ANY closed compartment. It can NOT go into a trunk NOR a passanger compartment. Not only for the hazard it creates but the EXTREME risks involved AND the fines WE would be hit with if caught doing such. On more than one occassion we have had to tell customers no. They MUST have something other than a Toyota Camry or Honda Accord. Heck, not even my Suburban can carry some products we handle.

Oh well. I deal w/ people like you all day. There are just too many people out there with shallow, narrow minded, dense brains they can't wrap it around the FACT that there are indeed MANY people that MUST drive a large SUV or truck for business. It makes PERFECT sense in OUR family to drive such vehicles. Otherwise if we I guess tried to do what YOU want we would need a 10 car garage in order to have the right size vehicle for every single thing we do. I'd wear out the roads to and from our house trying to go back and forth to change cars/trucks. Not to mention the WASTE in gas AND time. Then lets take a look at the business aspect of the whole situation. If you notice prices are going up. We are getting hit w/ delivery and handling fees from our vendors and suppliers. Those fees are getting passed onto the consumer. Diesel is thru the roof (much higher than gasoline) as well. The cost of doing business is going up. IF every person out there that NEEDED a truck or SUV to operate in some sense of their daily lives had to alternate vehicles and go out and purchase another smaller one just to make some people happy (like that is even possible ) the prices of doing business would go even HIGHER. Those same prices would be passed onto every one down the chain all the way till it reaches the end user - the consumer. Some business would just close up shop if the costs started outweighing the profits. Some would lose business as consumers would halt spending or slow down drastically. Those businesses would end up closing and more consumers would stop spending. In the end there would be a very high unemployment rate, many w/o a job and no way to get one, lose their house, divorce (it does follow tough times financially in many cases), etc. To say that there is NO ONE that has ANY REASON to drive such a vehicle is so far out there in never-never land it is not even funny. So the next time you here someone saying they lost their job or you see the prices going up even more at the grocery store stop and think about what YOUR opinion would do if it were put in place.

And where in the heck did you get I drive a car 5/9ths empty? Of course at any given a time ANY car can be closer to empty or full. What difference does THAT make????

Oh, and I do hope that you NEVER ask ANYONE especially someone that might drive an SUV to help you out sometime by getting your kids to different places. That would be kind of hypocritica don't ya think

You know what I think is funny. The people that spout such "high" opinions and think their way is the ONLY way without even knowing the REASONS why someone has or does what they do have got to have something back in there somewhere that is eating away at them and they can't let it go. Why else would ANYONE care what someone else drives (as long as it is SAFE to operate - and that is the one thing I'm VERY STICKY on. Ask my daughters as I've said many times I'll be the mom out giving anyone that comes to pick them up a thorough car inspection). Why do they care what kind of house someone has or where it is, where they shop, what kind of clothes they wear, etc? If it is THEIR MONEY - WHO CARES!

The other thing I find funny was the loonball activists that go around and destroy property because they think it is evil and is harming the environment. Great, now THEY just added to the environmental concerns and even WORSE! Like the ones that went around and torched Hummers. Hm, okay now we have:
1. Smoke polluting the air.
2. Water and VALUABLE WATER being wasted to put the fires out.
3. Lives at risk - the firemen and anyone else close by.
4. Perfectly good "goods" being destroyed that cost a lot of money to make (metal, car parts, rubber, etc).
5. Filling up precious space we have left in landfills w/ the junked out burnt cars that have no use whatsoever and can't even be melted down for other uses.
6. Insurance claims that the business has that now raised their rates which could mean they have to tighten their belt and could end up laying off people due to the higher insurance cost and the loss in sales due to cars that were going to be sold no longer can be.

Then the ones that will intentionally key or scratch someones car:
1. VOC's being put into the air. That is the paint when it gets repainted at the body shop.
2 Someone has to claim it on their insurance if they want to keep their car looking nice which DOES retain its value. A dinged up car is not worth as much as one in better condition. Then everyones insurance rates go up due to the rise in claims.
3. Some might not claim it and pay for it out of pocket. So there goes money that could have been used for new furniture or a much needed vacation.

Anyway, those that can think can get the picture. Doing damage to someone elses property just because you might not agree PERSONALLY with their choice creates MORE harm to the environment.

Um....it isn't acceptable to me. Key word: ME. So? Are we all supposed to agree with everyone's choices??? I know my opinion isn't the only one, I hope you know that, too??

How many times do I need to say it...I don't care want to legislate what she drives, but I don't think that driving a car with low MPG makes economic sense.

Oh, and I do hope that you NEVER ask ANYONE especially someone that might drive an SUV to help you out sometime by getting your kids to different places. That would be kind of hypocritica don't ya think

1. http://www.fueleconomy.gov/***/noframes/22950.shtml (broken link)
Shows that the 2007 Suburban gets 14 city, 19 highway. The gas tank capacity is 31-39 gallons. Gas in Austin for regular is $3.80. Gas fill up: between $120 and $140.

2. 'Honey', I haven't dictated to ANYONE what they should and shouldn't drive. Quite the contrary. We should all drive whatever car/SUV/bike/truck we please. All I've said is that for me, I'd rather not spend the money on a car that gets 14 MPG, according to that website. I'd rather take that money and invest it. I honestly don't care what you drive, I just don't agree. So what?

3. Again, 'honey', I've said time and again, that trucks and SUVs make sense for people in certain kinds of industries who need that type of transport. I don't expect the plumber to show up on a moped. That's just silly. I'm talking about just the average commuting mom or dad with an office job and trips to the grocery, Lowes, Target, and so on.

4. Your business sounds pretty complicated and like one where you're doing what you need to. Good for you. I don't know how else to say that I DON'T NEED AN SUV, and neither do most of the people I see in them...mostly moms all alone.

5. If you only drive your suburban with you and your 3 kids, that's 4 spots full. A Suburban seats 9. That means that 5 of the seats are...empty...that means it's 5 of the 9 seats are empty...5/9th.

6. No, to tell you the truth, most of my friends drive wagons, hybrids or cars. Don't think I know anyone who drives a Suburban well enough to ask them to take my kids anywhere.

Have a nice day.

First i can say with some what certainty there will NEVER be a law banning SUV's. It's great about capitalism if you can afford it you can buy it. If she and her family make enough money to fill up a Suburban it may seem like alot to you but not so much to them. I compare it to food. If I have enough money going to a fancy place isnt that big of a deal, where as if i dont have so much it is a big deal.

Also, guess what what it says on the sticker doesnt mean thats what it is in reality. You have heard from TWO owners of Suburbans tell you it doesnt cost that much to fill up and yet you still deny it. You are so set in your ways you ignore the truth. It is pointless to argue with some one like you because truth and common sense just dont work.

Anyone paying $92 to fill up their vehicle needs psychiatric help. Why anyone who is not a multi-millionaire would drop that kind of money to fill up their vehicle with gas is beyond me. Its still less than $40 to fill the Corolla, and I'll bet the Corolla also goes farther on a tank of gas than a Suburban.

I laugh at the knuckleheads next to me at the gas stations filling up their gas-hogging behemoths..... paying more in a month to fill their tanks than I pay for my mortgage.
