do i really have to answer such argument?
ok if everyone in the states and the rest of the western world bought non opec oil, guess what? there wouldn't be enough to go around. i just think that it's a matter of national security that we curb our dependence on foreign oil. local exploration is part of the solution but there isn't as much oil up there as people think

i will thank-you. the fact that we use more oil than what we produce nullifies your argument on imported oil!

don't quite agree with you on the tax aspect, but it is encouraging to know there are some fellow Americans who see excessive gas consumption as a problem. thank-you

Gas alone isn't enough to make everyone throw their SUV away for some new, eco-friendly car. If you've got a 2001 Tahoe that's in good repair, lots of life left, and is paid off... there's still really no economical justification to throw it off a cliff and get a new car... even a Prius' price can buy a LOT of gas for the Tahoe before you've seen a "savings."
agreed it's the ones rolling off the production line which most concern me!

ANWR peak production estimates are around 1.5 million barrels a day. that is the oil lobby's most optimistic figure. US consumption sits at around 20 million barrels a day. so while i do agree with drilling, our excessive consumption also has to be curbed, preferably by individuals easing theirs as opposed to government regulation

BTW, do you know that the PT Cruiser is an SUV?

SUV's are not the reason for higher gas prices -
sorry greatday, where did you see anyone accusing suv's of bringing about higher gas prices?
