BMW Bringing Back the Isetta - As An EV | Autopia from Wired.com

If everyone drove small compacts or microcars, it would be harder to use the (lame) excuse that they are unsafe.
At first I thought this cannot happen BMW is a luxury brand now and the Isetta would be a cheap economy car. But then it dawned on me that the Smart is a Mercedes and it sells for 13k. I hope they do not change the look on the outside it looks fine the way it is. They could make the inside nicer though.

I would LOVE to see microcars brought back to life. Who knows the Smart is doing well and if the Toyota IQ is a hit which I am sure it will be we just might see more tiny cars on the road.

EDIT: Oh has anybody seen the tango?

Isettas are unsafe enough as it is. 130HP in an Isetta would be stupidly dangerous.

Ya just gotta do it right

Tube sub-frame, decent wheels, brakes, suspension components.

Google up a pic of a BMW C1.

Don't forget they're also a motorcycle manufacturer, used to offer marine diesels 'tho I'm not sure if that's still the case.

There's more than luxury cars in their portfolio.

Why? Gas mileage is not that great, actually. Surprisingly low for something like this. It's for tiny people, as I know, I tried one out. It is OBVIOUSLY not as safe as any other conventional vehicle. For what it is, it is badly overpriced. BADLY. Besides of trying to be eccentric, and impress other eccentrics, why would you want something like this? Because you can park it in a motorcycle spot? Any decent Civic will outperform this car.

There's always one or two Isetta's on eBay. Seems as if they go in the 10,000 to 20,000 range fully restored.
