Hard not to include the small block Chevy. The same engine has been around since the late 50's! Sure there have been many changes, but the basic engine is the same.
I also love the Jeep 4.0 6 cyl engine. These things just run and run and run. Can't kill them with any kind of maintainance at all. Decent power right out of the box and with a few mods you can get a lot of HP and torque out of them.
I also like the current Chrysler 4.7 V8. I don't know why it took this long for Chrysler to get over 300 HP out of them. This should have been done from the start. Another easy engine to get power out of and seem to be very dependable.

That is another one that is tough as nails!
