Post News, GM stops major overhaul of pickups, SUVs.

DETROIT — General Motors (GM) is indefinitely halting a major overhaul of its full-size pickups and sport-utility vehicles as it deals with a drastic drop in sales of those products.

GM spokesman Tom Wilkinson said Thursday that the automaker instead will work on more modest updates and enhancements as it shifts resources toward higher-mileage vehicles.

I was on carmax looking at used SUVs and man they are just falling in price. If you told me I could get a 2007 Tahoe with 15K miles for 20K I say you were nuts, but there it was on car max.

They don't need redesigning. They were just redesigned a couple of years ago.

Bingo - I think auto designs change too often anyway. The auto industry knows that the masses will flock to buy the newest model.

I agree with snl. The 'annual model' thing with trucks is so-o-o-o contrived. Most fleets probably use a three or four year life cycle thing, and that would make so much more economic sense - except of course for dealers. But the manufacturers could cycle in economic incentives after 'the first blush is off the rose' of a newly introduced model/style, and still come out ahead - in my view.

My 1990 Suburban's bodystyle was released in late 1972 as a '1973' model-----which lasted till 1991.

My grandmother bought a brand new Tahoe LT a few days ago. I checked it out today and that thing is NICE (where's the drool button?), so no, they don't need an overhaul just yet. She doesn't drive very much so the gas prices didn't stop her from buying what she wanted.

The Tahoes are nice arent they. I think the Denalis and the Escalades not so much. The thing that I HATE are the lights, if they would have used the headlights on the Tahoe on those two I would be all over them but I just dont like the headlights

Yeah, I know what you mean. I don't like the front end of the Denali either, it's kinda fish looking.
