That is a reasonable time and trap speed.

Car & Driver recorded a 16.9 sec @ 83 mph 1/4 mile with a '95 Lincoln Town Car. With 3.08 gears.

Yours did quite well considering it has that very high axle ratio.

very cool. It was fun huh? What was your reaction time and 60' time? I figure your 60' time to be around 2.6 or so

Here's a tidbit if you care....normally when you launch, if you have seen green, you've waited too long. You can still race and win but a seasoned drag racer knows to leave just as the last yellow comes on, but you have to be consistent and right on; leaving too soon and you will "red light" and lose...leave too late (aka "green light") and if your opponent knows he will leave on the last yellow and then you'll be having to play catch up if you want to win.

Of course if you're running solo, you can green light all you want and win, just don't let your friends see your time slips or they might rib ya about sleeping at the wheel. A perfect light they say is .500, though some other classes go with a .400 light.

I'm guessing you just did this for fun though and not for any real gain...otherwise a gear swap to a lower gear would almost certainly lower your e.t.'s.

Yup, it was just for fun, nothing else (Street Night). It's for people to take their cars out and see what they can do and not be a**holes and do it on the street.

I just bought the Grand Marquis recently to use as a family car since my son is now too tall for the back seat of my Ford Supercab.

I've run my '02 F250 4x4, '97 Z28 and '96 Impala SS in the past.

Good, clean fun.
