What do they know, they drive on the wrong side of the road. j/k

I do like a stick out on country roads where I can enjoy it, but in city traffic I prefer an automatic.

I'm with the Europeans, and prefer a manual as well. I dislike any feature that takes away from the experience of driving - from an automatic transmission to power steering to cruise control. Yech!!!

Because driving a manual is just plain more fun! Nothing worse than seeing a automatic trans. in a sports car!

Just a few months ago, I was in the market for a Roadster. Mercedes Benz discontinued importing manual transmissions on it SLK-350 vehicles in 2007.

Because of this, I bought a B.M.W. Z-4.

I just hope makers wake up and realize that some people really like manual transmissions.

This decision of MBUSA cost them over $50,000. Plus they have put into jeopardy a long standing customer, I really like my Beam, and just might buy another.

Do they even teach driving with manual transmissions anymore in Driver's Ed? My area's public schools stopped 40+ years ago.

I remember reading about attempted carjacking in which the criminal picked a car which had a manual trans. He didn't know how to drive it and ran away out of frustration.

LOL...I KNOW they didn't teach it when I took drivers ed! And they sure didn't when both of my kids had it. My Dad made sure I knew had to drive both standard and auto. I wasn't allowed to own my own car until I could master a standard and change a tire, as well as put on my own snows!
At the moment...we own 1 auto...(didn't offer any other choice) and 3 standards. (Well..one is a SMG....but it's never driven as a auto)

Did I mention it is just more fun! Live once, have fun throughout!

Partially... us Americans, in general, are too darn lazy to go through the gears. Either that, we're not hand-and-foot coordinated enough to get out of the drive way. My partner admitted that to me. He still has problems chewing gum and walking at the same time!
