An easier solution would be to read the articles. Particularly, the college researchers who did the research.
Look, I'm not depriving you of your fashionista. Go ahead and drive around in your SUV. All I'm saying is, SUVs are no safer than any other vehicle. Period.

No - there are files in the National Highway Administration - and the DOT - You know - Pictures, accounts - stuff like that.
But, here is the bottom line - Drive what you like - Drive what makes you feel comfortable - it doesn't matter to me if you want to drive a SmartCar or an Escalade (or bigger).

Let me give you an example: A head on collision between a Chevrolet Suburban and a SmartCar.
Which driver is more likely to have few injuries in your opinion?

I just want to see something factual from those who would have us believe Volve makes an inherently safer car than other manufacturers, haven't seen it so far.

Well then - what can I say.
Someday I'll see if I can find some additional information for you - but, its not important enough to me to go out of my way for you -

I'm such a silly girl....I should have known that a scooter is as safe as an SUV. Thanks a lot for clearing that up for me.

Wrong safety question.
We're not talking solely about the passenger of said SUV, but also the safety of those in proximity. You can't look at one without looking at the other.
A head on collision between an SUV and a regular car? Sure, I'd put bets on the driver of the SUV walking away. But so what? What about the driver of the car? Should they be disregarded? No. The fact one driver was driving a car 3 times the weight increased the risk on the car driver.
If a Toyota Corolla slammed into the side of a building at 60 mph, I guarantee less collateral damage than an H2 at the same rate of speed.

Here is a fact: There have been, are, and always will be, vehicles stronger and heavier than another vehicle.
There will always be crashes where one person dies and the other does not.
There is NO WAY to avoid this.
We have the right - the freedom - to choose to drive whatever I want to. That is one of the things that makes this country great. If I choose to drive a big, heavy SUV - and you choose to drive a light little car - that is our choice.
And, this type of choice is not, and should not, ever change

Until that time I can only view the 'Volvo safety superiority' as urban myth and and a tribute to the power of advertising.
