I would agree. For the most part, I still think people are making decisions based on personal preference more than anything else. There are exceptions, of course.

I'll ask one better. Show me a Prius that's better for the environment than your Suburban (from production to junk yard). I haven't seen one yet.

Can you name a few suv's and trucks that have very poor braking performance? Compared to? Any real statstics?
And how many times in a day do we all need to "swerve at speed"?

well done for your environmental efforts (carrying a full load is much better than cruising around solo) i commend you for this! i still think that while i am forced to pay taxes to bailout overzealous homeowners and perhaps while they handing out laws and regulation carte blanche they'll take one of mine on board and get you to drive slower!

it's those exceptions i'm referring to. if i had stats i'd give them to you. what i do know is that every suv driver i know has cited safety as one of the main reasons

here i am driving down the freeway at 55 in my suburban...along comes a semi that weighs 80,000 lbs. should he have to drive at 45 cause i`m scared he will run me over? your question requires two answers. first if your scared stay home on the couch. second thing is there is only one thing that will truely fix the future coming energy crisis and that is zero population growth. laugh all you want. someday it will be passed into law by the world federated government. it will have to happen unless a big war takes care of the problem. in the short term you are right about the 55mph speed limit. right now most everone i see speeding down the freeway is in a smaller car. the feel they are entitled to drive as fast as they want and make as many wasted trips as they want because of driving in their little pepsi cans. mccain wants to remove the gas tax and you want to add more. sorry i can`t vote for you.

These two posts have it right. While I appreciate your sentiment (but couldn't disagree more with it) speed per se does not kill. No one has ever died because they were going too fast. Differential speed kills, that is, when something runs into something else moving at a different speed or not moving at all.
By creating a two-tiered passenger vehicle speed limit you are increasing the differential speeds and it will result in more injuries and deaths.
But then again, what's a little human suffering if it is for the righteous cause of Big Green, right?

all of them. compared to most cars. nah don't feel like trolling the web for them.
you probably never need to swerve at speed. but the first time you do could be the last time you do. that also goes for the poor b******d who gets pole-axed by you in the process!
