It looks like a 1957-'59 Dodge Custom Royal, but it is kind of hard to tell.

Dodge or DeSoto? Not sure either, but I think you have the range of years right.

I'd say '58 Dodge. The dual headlights got me thinking that it had to be newer than '57. Probably a different model (maybe '59?) because of the bumper difference. Checked - not '59.

Ah Ha! The problem with getting old is memory. Forgot some cars had duals in '57.
How about this?
1957 Dodge Custom Royal
Pretty close. Note vertical chrome pieces on the bumper and above the headlights as a difference, but also look at the horizontal chrome piece on the front of the hood on the OP picture. The letter E? And I'd wager the chrome lettering above the wheel well says Royal on the OP's picture.

It looks like Fleet and Tek_Freek nailed it. That would be my best guess as well.

I've noticed that my pre-1960 and my knowledge of 1995 and anything pretty much after that is really bad. I wonder if that is subconsciously on purpose. I remember when I could see a car on the road and, most of the time just by the design..say "Ford! Chevy! Dodge!" or whatever it was. ("Cept them foreign cars, HA!") Now, they all seem to look the same. That's why I like my Torino. Easy to find in a parking lot. And people walk up and say "I/my dad/my brother/my best friend used to have a car JUST LIKE THAT!"
I remember walking out of Walmart once and this older fella and his wife were just ....looking at it. Dude had a big smile on his face. So did his wife. He turned, looked at me and said "I met my wife driving this car." and we talked for a while.
We talked for like a 1/2 hour, actually.
Just a stranger and me...connected by a drivable piece of history. That's what I think every time....yeah... every time I get in that car. I love the smell of the interior. I love the way the steel doesn't give underneath my touch. I love the fact that I can sit on the trunk and it won't collapse. I love the way that kids look at it...and want to touch it and see it. And, to share a bit of myself, I like what my 11 year old son told me one day after I took him for a "power ride".
"Daddy? Where can I get a car like then when I'm old enough to drive?"
What do you say to that? My car is 38 years old. To most of today's youth, its an anachronism. I said, "Well, son....they're pretty rare. You might have to get a 90's car or something like that." and he's all like, "Dad! I don't want a 90's car! I want a car like THIS CAR!!!"
Again, I ask...........What do you say to that?
************************************************** ****
Incidently.....I've driven a 2000 Honda Accord (My wife's car...since upgraded? / downgraded to a 2007 Honda Civic) as my daily driver off and on for years. No one has ever stopped and said "HEY! Nice 2000 Honda Accord!" ...... Nope...... Not once.

Old cars with charachter
Same kind of stuff happens to me in the 72 MGB. Which is 36 years old! Lot of guys had them in college, whatever, but sold them on when they got married/settled down/whatever. And now regret getting rid of it bigtime!
Where does the time go?
But the M3, kids think it's a 318 or 325 with a body kit...

Those posts take me back to my brothers first car. A 1938 Ford 4 door turtle back.
We came back from a beach to find a couple of men sitting on the running board drinking beer. They apologized profusely, but explained they just couldn't resist. It had bee a long time since they'd had the opportunity.
