Default F-Series looses top spot

Per Automobile Magazine(Sept.08)-the Ford F-Series pick-up has been the best selling vehicle for 26 years in a row.Through April 08 that is;then in May 08 it fell out of the top spot. Not to number 2,or 3 or 4 but all the way down to the 5th spot. Here's your top 5-before and after.U.S. car sales
Jan-Apr 08 May 08
1)Ford F-Series 1)Honda Civic
2)Chevy Silverado 2)Toyota Corolla/Matrix
3)Toyota Camry 3)Toyota Camry
4)Honda Accord 4)Honda Accord
5)Honda Civic 5)Ford F-Series

Seems 4.00 a gallon was the magic number.Last time there was a shift in auto preference was during the Arab oil embargo in 73 but that was driven by scarcity(stations ran out of gas). That scarcity bred fear in the people.Today it's spread by price. The times, they're a changing.

I'm guessing it's going back to the people that need a truck are buying them instead of the soccer mom or wanna be cool dad buying them as a commuter.

Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator are both based on the F-150. So was the Lincoln Blackwood.

The current Lincoln Mark LT is an upscale F-150.

The discontinued Ford Excursion was based on the F-250/F-350.

I sure hope they'll be dealing on F150's when we get our Explorer paid off next year! I'd love to have a new F150 Super Crew. (Unless I do the sensible thing and buy a Honda Element...)
